[Faize is in what appears to be a library, a small stack of books to his left and his Elgyem sitting on the table to his right. Said Elgyem has the look of somebody who's been giving an explanation that fell on deaf ears for a decent length of time. Which is basically exactly what happened in a non-verbal sense. Poor thing.]

[Faize, on the other hand, looks considerably less irritable than he did the last time he appeared on the network. This world still bothers him, but last month's trip to Nightmare Castle was enough to get him to start giving this world and the things it has to offer a try. And he's actually come to find that some of it is rather fascinating.]

[It's the green eggs and ham effect.]

It would seem that, thusfar, humans have been unable to translate Elgyem's communicative patterns. Which is understandable, translation is a rather difficult and complicated process, especially with the level of technology this world has at its disposal and given the fact that Elgyem communicates non-verbally. [He waves a hand somewhat dismissively.] But no matter, it gives me something to work towards, I suppose.

However, this does not help me in figuring out what my Elgyem's name is. He can communicate with me psychically, but seems to only be able to do so with pictures, which is little better than patterns of blinking lights in this case. Somehow it seems strange to just call him "Elgyem" when that's the name of his entire species.

[The Elgyem in question just puts his face in his hands. Master, plz. Why is this so hard. He appreciates the thought, he really does, but he doesn't have a name. He just wants you to give him a name, like he's been trying to tell you in a variety of ways for the past several hours.]

So I guess, put simply, my question is this: how did you go about learning the names of your Pokémon?

A pleasure as well, Lord El-Melloi. I think I understand what you mean. I'm still not sure that I...believe all I have heard, just yet. But it's certainly easier on the mind not to try and argue. Though it's hard not to try and apply standards of logic to it, even though thusfar doing so has proved futile.

Well, like I said, it does take some time to adjust. Believe me, there are things that I didn't want to accept, but... well, here I am.

The thing is, I do think it has a logic to it --- it's just, well, its own logic rather than anything remotely intelligible from other perspectives.

What changed, if you don't mind my asking? I mean, what made it so that you could accept things that one might normally label as complete nonsense?

Well, in my world, we have knowledge that there are, indeed, infinite parallel worlds, so it's not too terribly far fetched that some would be absurd... but honestly, I'd say that the real reason behind it is constant exposure for over a year and a half.

Ah. The existence of parallel worlds is something I only just had confirmed recently in my world. Until then, it was just a matter of theory and it's still not a widely known fact.

...Did you ever try and find a way to leave this place?

I see... though, that's certainly understandable. There's only really ever been one person who's managed to successfully travel between them in my world... well, willingly, anyway, though I'm not quite sure how much this counts.

That implies I've stopped.

If anyone has managed it willingly in my world, they did a good job keeping it quiet. My crewmates and I only managed it by accident and I am unsure if any of us would willingly try to repeat the circumstances.

I am glad to hear that, though. I was beginning to wonder if everyone here was content enough to stay.

How did you manage it, if I may ask? Merely out of curiosity, of course; I doubt it could be reproduced in either this world or my own.

It's more like being content to wait until this place randomly returns you to your own world, though it seems as though in some cases that's effectively the same thing.

I don't know about your world but it certainly cannot be reproduced in this one, from what I have seen. Unless the native inhabitants are hiding spaceships somewhere and pretending to be less technologically advanced than they actually are.

We were pulled into a gravitational anomaly during our travels. I had assumed it was a black hole, but given what happened next I am not entirely sure if that was the case. It was a miracle we survived at all, really.

Hm... perhaps it would be possible in my world, but we certainly don't have spacefaring technology remotely capable of testing something like that. The furthest in space any human has been is our moon.

Though, it does seem fairly unlikely anyone would survive that. I'll admit that I'm not a cosmologist but given everything I've read about black holes... well, it really must have been something different, as I really can't imagine anything surviving one of those without breaking several laws of physics.
