[Faize is in what appears to be a library, a small stack of books to his left and his Elgyem sitting on the table to his right. Said Elgyem has the look of somebody who's been giving an explanation that fell on deaf ears for a decent length of time. Which is basically exactly what happened in a non-verbal sense. Poor thing.]

[Faize, on the other hand, looks considerably less irritable than he did the last time he appeared on the network. This world still bothers him, but last month's trip to Nightmare Castle was enough to get him to start giving this world and the things it has to offer a try. And he's actually come to find that some of it is rather fascinating.]

[It's the green eggs and ham effect.]

It would seem that, thusfar, humans have been unable to translate Elgyem's communicative patterns. Which is understandable, translation is a rather difficult and complicated process, especially with the level of technology this world has at its disposal and given the fact that Elgyem communicates non-verbally. [He waves a hand somewhat dismissively.] But no matter, it gives me something to work towards, I suppose.

However, this does not help me in figuring out what my Elgyem's name is. He can communicate with me psychically, but seems to only be able to do so with pictures, which is little better than patterns of blinking lights in this case. Somehow it seems strange to just call him "Elgyem" when that's the name of his entire species.

[The Elgyem in question just puts his face in his hands. Master, plz. Why is this so hard. He appreciates the thought, he really does, but he doesn't have a name. He just wants you to give him a name, like he's been trying to tell you in a variety of ways for the past several hours.]

So I guess, put simply, my question is this: how did you go about learning the names of your Pokémon?

Yeaaah... I noticed that a bit early on with that woman callin' herself my mum. Things have gotten a bit better, but they ain't all there.

[Since they're already talking about weird things...]

While we're chattin', I'm not the only one hearin' weird music, am I? Thought I hit my head, but it's been goin' on fer a while now.

[It was...weird. And vaguely creepy.]

Ah, no, that's not just you. As far as I can tell, it's just somehow a naturally-occurring phenomenon of this world. There's no way to make it stop, though it does change with regards to one's location. Which I'm sure you probably already noticed, but it holds true for everywhere I have been thus far.

Yeah, noticed that rather quickly. Considering the... arrival, hearin' all that just made me think I really had lost it. [He taps his temple to make the meaning clear.]

It took me a while to notice. At first, I had assumed the woman claiming to be my mother was simply playing a radio too loudly.

After I went outside, though, I wondered if perhaps I was dreaming. But that wasn't the case either. I haven't bothered looking into it much as I assume the answer will be the same as it is for most everything else here.

Yeah, not the strangest thing about this place, I suppose. So yer interest is more in how our friends here communicate, right?

Well my primary interest is still in finding a way to return to my own world. But, in the meantime, yes I do intend to study methods of communication. Beyond Elgyem's light patterns, the telepathic abilities of psychic types interest me greatly. Apparently there's some variance there which I would like to look into.

Well, Angel's one of them types, apparently. Would chattin' with her do ya any good?

It would certainly give m a more varied sample. At the moment, I only have my Elgyem, which doesn't make for a very good study, especially since species variance is one of the areas I am most interested in.

Does she talk to you, then? Angel, I mean.

[pipers_son]

Well, that depends on whatcha mean by 'talk'. She doesn't use words or anythin', but she pantomimes pretty well when she really wants ta get her point across. I think she ain't fooled by lies, either, but that's just me guessing.

[Guessing because she never believes him when he tries to act happy at her when he's miserable. Dang empaths.]

Mm, no not pantomime. I meant something more along the lines of telepathy.

For example, my Elgyem is also incapable of speech with words. But he is capable of projecting images directly into my mind as a form of communication. Has Angel ever shown signs of doing something similar?

[pipers_son]

Huh... [He thinks for a moment, him and his Pokemon just staring at each other.] Not that I can remember, but it's not like we've been together fer very long. 'Sides, I heard they get stronger the more you fight these other things, right? And... Evolution, s'what the book called it?

Yes. A new acquaintance of mine mentioned that such powers can grow stronger over time. And there are some species differences from what he can tell, though he hasn't looked extensively into the matter.

Perhaps Angel's species develops the skill a little later on. So it's something for you to perhaps watch out for, in the future.

But I...do recall the manual mentioning something about evolution, yes. I didn't really look into it though, admittedly. I was hoping to be able to leave this place rather quickly, after all, so I didn't pay much attention to most of the details. [He pauses, tapping his chin.] Perhaps I should give the manual another look once I'm finished here.

I'll be sure to~. [Angel is starting to look a bit worried, so Joker starts to gently pat her on the head.]

It's a pretty handy little book! Maybe it'll help you out with this research of yers. Can't help to go through it, right?

[Faize chuckles a little.]

No, it certainly can't hurt. [A slight incline of the head.] Thank you, Joker. You've been very helpful.
